A PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST open to  

COLUMBIA COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

If you are a student in grades 8 - 12, the Columbia County Historical Society and Chatham Dirt Road Coalition invite you to submit original digital photographs of life along Columbia County's scenic dirt roads.  

  • Use your own artistic eye to capture and convey any aspect of the world, natural or man made, that exists along the dirt roads of the Chathams, Kinderhook, Niverville, Valatie, or any area within Columbia County.  
  • Your photographs may be in color or black and white.
  • You may submit a JPG, PNG or GIF.  
  • Eight photographs will be chosen for display April 27 - June 2 in the exhibition entitled, Dirt Road Life - Images of Rural Community at Kinderhook's historic James Vanderpoel House.  
  • An Opening Reception will be held there at 6:00 PM, Friday April 26, 2024, at which time the top four prizes will be awarded.

Deadline for entries:  MARCH 8, 2024, 8:00 PM

Other important dates:

  • Posting of 8 finalists:  March 14, 8:00 PM
  • 8 Finalists deliver Framed Photographs to Ms. Dwileski during school hours, Ichabod Crane High School or to the James Vanderpoel House between 3:00 and 6:00 PM:  March 28
  • Opening Reception, winners announced:  April 26, 5:00 PM
  • Pick up photographs at Exhibition end from Ms. Dwileski: June 3 during school hours
